High-altitufde Sagebrush
On dry volcanic soil the high-altitufde sagebrush Artemisia arbuscula, rather than the usual Big Sagebrush, A. tridentata, dominates; the two hybridize. This is the plant community in which the Sooty Gossamer-Wing, Satyrium fuliginosum, occurs.
